Monthly Meeting January 20, 2014
MEMBERS PRESENT:
Michael Jarvis, Steve Seals, Steve Milewski, Eugene Skinner, Josh Brown, Neal Kuznar, Freddie Crowder, Richard Crowder, Charles Alexander
Minutes of last meeting read and approved.
FINANCIAL REPORT: Provided by Steve Milewski
OLD BUSINESS:
Discussed making payment to range lessor
ASA insurance should be mailed this week
NEW BUSINESS:
Hydration at club shoots: Instead of spending $40+ on ice for the Igloo water cans, we discussed and decided to purchase cases of bottled water and put them in ice chests on the course. The rationale is that bottled water is less expensive and requires less ice than putting out the water cans and cups, and the water bottles are recyclable.
Discussed the problem of non-members using the CCBA Inc. range. We voted to put a “No Trespassing” sign on the front gate, and discussed getting a combination lock for the front gate and providing the lock code with paid membership for the year. Charlie will take care of obtaining the sign and lock.
The February 2014 club shoot will be our “Membership Shoot”. Anybody paying for a yearly membership prior to the February shoot will be able to compete for free at the February 2014 shoot. New members can sign up in person at the shoot, or can sign up ahead of time. Essentially if you’re a paid member, your fees are waived for the February 2014 club shoot. Mike Jarvis will create a flier in PDF format and distribute it to places like Cabela’s, Academy, Collin County Archery, and other various places that will permit us to promote the event.
Discussed placing targets for Feb 2014 shoot, and the need to do it early in the day since it gets dark so early. Tentatively planning for Friday, but individuals need to check their schedules. Mike Jarvis will ensure that we have plenty of hard-copies of membership forms and liability releases on hand.
Steve Seals will contact Cabela’s about club sponsorship for our invitational tournament. This needs to be done at least 60-90 days in advance.
Discussed what to do for trophies, and a desire to do something different than the usual trophies. We tabled this for now, since we will have sufficient trophies and prizes to last for a couple more shoots.
Discussed the need for some pest control in the storage trailer. Steve Seals discussed getting some sealant for the cracks to keep the rats out.
Discussed the question of whether or not to link to other archery websites from the CCBA, Inc. website. A vote was taken, and we decided we would NOT do so unless there was an official relationship (such as corporate sponsorship) involved.
Discussed and approved offering a club membership to Cable Smith, host of the “Lone Star Outdoors Show” (http://texasoutdoorsmedia.com/), in exchange for possible CCBA Inc. promotion on his radio program.
Discussed, voted, and approved a motion to offer a free Lifetime Membership to Wayne Meuir, in appreciation for his many years of selfless service to the club.
